Seven Red Raiders check in on D1 Baseball Top-100 list

The list is highlighted by Logan Hughes (No. 10 OF) and Connor Shouse (No. 11 3B)
LUBBOCK, Texas – As the season inches toward its mid point, seven Red Raiders were selected as a Top-50 player (100 for outfielders) at their respective position in the midseason D1Baseball positional rankings.
Highlighted by top 2026 MLB Draft prospect Logan Hughes who was tabbed the 10th-best outfielder in the country as well as third baseman Connor Shouse who checked in at No. 11 on the third base list, the Red Raiders saw every member of the infield selected.
Starting with catcher Matt Quintanar, the Red Raiders were represented at catcher, first base, second base, third base, shortstop and twice in the outfield.
A native of Sunland, Calif., Quintanar has shined in his first season with the Scarlet and Black, as the catcher has hit .340 with eight doubles, a pair of home runs and 24 total RBIs. Quintanar who has walked 12 times on the season, has struck out just 10 times in 100 official at-bats.
Defensively, Quintanar has also flashed behind the dish as he's thrown out 10 of 29 (34.5 percent) would-be base stealers and has recorded a fielding percentage of .990.
Tech's second selection in D1's top-50 players was first baseman Robin Villeneuve. A native of Quebec, Canada, Villeneuve is hitting .376 with a team-leading nine home runs and 32 RBIs. Batting in the nine-hole, Villeneuve is slugging a team-high .727 and has also produced an impressive on-base percentage of .467. Villeneuve checked in at No. 17 on the first baseman list.
Like Quintanar, Villeneuve has also shined defensively as the first baseman has 13 total assists and 200 putouts so far this season and is fielding .986.
Tech's third honoree, second baseman Tracer Lopez, also was included on the publications top-50 second basemen as Lopez was selected at No. 44. Hitting .321 through the season's first 27 games, Lopez needs just two hits to reach 200 for his career.Â
Lopez has scored 32 times and has nine doubles, a triple and a home run through the midway point of the 2026 season.
Continuing across the diamond, the Red Raiders saw freshman SS Linkin Garcia check in as the No. 25 shortstop on the D1 list. So far through his rookie campaign with the Red Raiders, Garcia is hitting .357 with three home runs and 39 RBIs.
Garcia has also scored 36 times and is second on the team in RBIs (39), doubles (10), hits (40) and at-bats (112). Garcia's OPS sits at .953 as he is one of seven Red Raider regulars with an OPS of .950 or better.
The final of the Red Raider quartet on the infield, Shouse, also has shined in his first season with the Red Raiders as the infielder and pitcher is hitting .379 with eight home runs and a team-best 41 RBIs thus far. Shouse has also added seven doubles and a pair of triples and is the team-leader in total hits (44).
Continuing into the outfield where the publication expanded from 50 to 100 players, Tech saw two outfielders selected highlighted by the Preseason All-American Hughes.
The Big 12s leader in home runs (19) a season ago, Hughes has slashed .364/.519/1.246 through the season's first 27 games. He has launched eight home runs and driven in 37, scoring a team-best 40 runs.
Once again expanding the list to 100 for outfielders, the Red Raiders saw right fielder Caden Ferraro selected as the No. 91 outfielder in the country. A transfer from Blinn College where he won a 2024 National Champion, Ferraro is hitting .410 with three home runs and 28 RBIs.
Ferraro who has slugged a team-best 11 doubles, has also scored 25 times and walked 21 times in his first 83 at-bats. Ferraro's on-base percentage sits at .518.
Texas Tech opens a four-game homestand against ACU on Tuesday night. First pitch from Rip Griffin Park is set for 6:30 p.m.
