LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech kicks off its fifth season under Joey McGuire with its first official spring practice Tuesday. As he does every season, McGuire allows select Red Raiders to switch jersey numbers, sometimes for personal reasons or to align with what they wore in high school or a previous school.Â
Between the returners wearing a new jersey and 30-plus newcomers to the roster, Red Raider fans will have a few new names and numbers to get familiar with before Texas Tech kicks off the 2026 season on Sept. 5 versus Abilene Christian.
