Lady Raiders set to open conference action Sunday, Dec. 20, against Colorado
LUBBOCK — The Lady Raiders' Big 12 schedule is officially here.
In conjunction with the Big 12 Conference, Texas Tech announced its 18-game conference slate Thursday morning. Highlighted by a home-and-home series with Baylor, conference action begins Dec. 20, when head coach Krista Gerlich and the Lady Raiders host Colorado inside United Supermarkets Arena.
Texas Tech will face Baylor, UCF and West Virginia twice during the regular season, playing each opponent once at home and once on the road. The Lady Raiders will face the remaining Big 12 opponents one time.
The conference road schedule begins Dec. 30 at Baylor, while the regular season concludes Feb. 28 against Kansas inside Allen Fieldhouse.
Last season, Texas Tech swept Baylor for the first time since 2003-04 last season. The Lady Raiders snapped the Bear's 31-game winning streak in the series with a road win in Waco before completing the sweep with an 87-56 victory in Lubbock, the program's largest win over a ranked opponent in at least 25 years.
The Lady Raiders will host Colorado, Cincinnati, Utah, BYU, Houston and Oklahoma State in their lone meetings of the season. Texas Tech's single-game road matchups include trips to TCU, Arizona, Arizona State, Iowa State, Kansas State and Kansas.
Texas Tech will enjoy three home stretches during conference play. The first features Cincinnati (Jan. 5) and Utah (Jan. 9). The second comes at the end of January, when the Lady Raiders host West Virginia on Jan. 27 before welcoming BYU on Jan. 30. The final homestand begins Feb. 13 against UCF and continues Feb. 17 against Houston. Texas Tech's final home game of the regular season is set for Feb. 24 against Oklahoma State.
The Lady Raiders are also scheduled for two key road swings. Texas Tech travels to Arizona on Jan. 13 before making the short trip to Tempe to face Arizona State on Jan. 16. The second road stretch opens Feb. 3 at Iowa State before the Lady Raiders head to Manhattan, Kansas, to take on Kansas State on Feb. 7.
The season will culminate in Kansas City, Missouri, with the 2027 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship beginning March 3 at the T-Mobile Center.
Gerlich and the Lady Raiders will look to build on one of the most successful seasons in recent program history. Picked 13th in the preseason poll a year ago, Texas Tech finished fourth in the Big 12 and posted a 26-8 overall record and a 12-6 conference mark.
The Lady Raiders recorded their highest conference finish since 2012-13, their most overall wins since 2002-03 and their most Big 12 victories since 2004-05. The remarkable campaign earned Gerlich Big 12 Coach of the Year, becoming just the second coach in program history to earn the honor, joining Hall of Fame head coach Marsha Sharp.
