John Boesch enters his second season at Texas Tech where he serves as an Assistant Sports Dietitian. His primary sports are the men’s basketball and women’s volleyball programs.
Prior to Texas Tech, Boesch completed the Edward Hines Jr. VA Dietetic Internship based out of Chicago. He developed, implemented and monitored the nutritional care plan of Veterans. He also provided nutrition education by utilizing behavior change theories in various settings.
While pursuing his Master’s degree in Colorado, Boesch was a sport nutrition intern where he was able to shadow three United States Olympic Committee sports RD during athlete consultations. He also created nutrition education content for the Team USA website and Team USA nutrition Twitter account.
As an undergraduate sports nutrition student volunteer at Tennessee, Boesch was responsible for body composition assessments of student-athletics using COSMED BOD POD. He also had the opportunity to shadow UT Director of Nutrition during student-athlete nutrition consultations.
Boesch is a registered dietitian and a member of the collegiate and professional Sports Dietetics Association. He is ISAK Level 1 certified and BLS/CPR certified by the American Heart Association.
Boesch graduated from the University of Tennessee in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition. He earned his Masters of Science in sport nutrition from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in May 2016.
