Max Lefevre helped lead Texas Tech to the 2019 NCAA National Championship final and the Big 12 Conference regular-season championship in his third season as the Director of Player Development for the Red Raiders.
Â
Lefevre has worked with head coach Chris Beard for seven seasons and helped the Texas Tech program to the NCAA Elite Eight and a 27-win season in 2017-18 prior to the Final Four run in 2019.Â
The Red Raiders recorded the program's winningest season in program history by going 31-7 in the 2018-19 season that included going 5-1 in the NCAA Tournament. Tech advanced to the program's first Final Four after earning wins over Northern Kentucky, Buffalo, Michigan and Gonzaga before advancing to the national championship game with a 61-51 win over Michigan State in the Final Four semifinal in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Prior to the tournament run, the Red Raiders won the program's first regular-season Big 12 title by going 14-4 in conference play.Â
Texas Tech collected a pair of victories over Associated Press Top 10 opponents during the 2016-17 season in No. 4 Baylor and No. 7 West Virginia for the first time since the 2007-08 season when the Red Raiders knocked off No. 5 Texas and No. 10 Texas A&M.
Â
Lefevre also worked for Chris Beard’s staffs as Director of Basketball Operations at Little Rock in 2015-16 and as a graduate assistant at Angelo State from 2013-15. Over those three seasons, Lefevre worked for teams that compiled a 77-20 record.
Â
Little Rock collected a program-record 30 victories along with the Sun Belt regular season and tournament titles. The Trojans defeated No. 12-ranked and fifth-seeded Purdue with an 85-83 comeback victory in double overtime at the NCAA Tournament.
Â
Angelo State managed a program-record 28 games and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the 2015 NCAA Division II Tournament during Lefevre’s second season with the program. The Rams lost only two home games in Lefevre’s two seasons.
Â
Prior to his time at Angelo State, Lefevre worked for MOKAN Basketball located in Kansas City, Missouri. MOKAN is one of the top grassroots basketball organizations in the country. Lefevre coached youth MOKAN elite teams in tournaments across the country and contributed to the creation of a youth coaching developmental program. He also organized events such as the KC Classic, Hardwood Classic, Nike Pre-Draft Camp and various high school team camps.
Â
Lefevre is married to Anabelle Lefevre who is a middle school math teacher in Lubbock. Born in France, Lefevre played college basketball at Avila University also located in Kansas City. He earned his Bachelor of Science in International Business from Avila in 2012 before earning his Master of Education in Sports Administration from Angelo State in 2015.
