JUNIOR SEASON (2021-22)
Shannon averaged 10.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in his third season with the Red Raiders… He had a season-high 23 points in a home win over West Virginia on February 22 and would also score 20 points against TCU at home and against Montana State in the NCAA Tournament First Round… His 23 points against WVU came with him going 7-for-12 from the field with three 3-pointers… Shannon earned Big 12 All-Tournament Team honors after providing 15 points in a quarterfinal win over Iowa State and then 14 points and three assists in the championship final against Kansas…Shannon played in 26 of 37 games during the season, making 20 starts and finishing the year shooting 90-for-198 (45.5 percent) from the field and 33-for-86 (38.4 percent) on 3-pointers… He had 11 games with two or more 3-pointers, including matching a career-high with four 3-pointers in a 15-point performance against Lamar early in the non-conference schedule… Shannon had eight points and two rebounds in the final game of the season against Duke in the Sweet 16 where he played 34:25… He finished the season scoring in double figures in 12 of 20 games played and had a season-high 12 rebounds in his only double-double of the season where he also had 18 points in an overtime win over Tennessee in the Jimmy V Classic on December 7 at Madison Square Garden… Along with his 20 points in the NCAA Tournament win over Montana State, Shannon matched a career high with six assists… Through three seasons and 83 games played, Shannon has scored 915 points and has 299 rebounds and 120 assists.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2020-21)
Shannon averaged 12.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game in his second season with the Red Raiders… He scored a season-high 23 points at LSU where he also secured 10 rebounds to record his first career double-double… Shannon had 20 or more points in five games and scored in double figures in 22 of the 28 games he played in… Along with his 23-point performance at LSU, Shannon went for 22 points in a home win over Kansas State and had 21 points in a road win at Oklahoma where he was 8-for-12 from the field with two 3-pointers… He finished the season making 30 of 84 shots from beyond the arc (35.7 percent) with six games of two or more 3-pointers… He made a career-high four 3-pointers in games against Kansas and Texas… His four 3-pointers against Texas came in the Big 12 Championship quarterfinals where he led the Red Raiders with 18 points… Shannon also hit three 3-pointers and led Tech with 20 points against Arkansas in the NCAA Tournament Second Round at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis… In the NCAA Tournament he averaged 15.0 points per game after opening with 10 points and three assists in the first-round win over Utah State in Bloomington… Against Arkansas, Shannon was 3-for-4 on 3-pointers and went 5-for-5 at the free-throw line… He finished the season 90 of 119 (75.6 percent) at the free-throw line including and 11-for-12 performance in his 22-point game against KSU and going 9-for-10 at the line in his 23-point game at LSU… Along with his scoring, Shannon had a career-high six assists in the win at Iowa State where he also added six points and finished the season with 39 assists… Defensively, he had 32 steals and four blocked shots… He had at least one steal in 22 of the 28 games he played in… Shannon led the team in scoring in seven games capped by his 20 against Arkansas in the final game of the season.
FRESHMAN SEASON (2019-20)
Shannon finished his freshman season averaging 9.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game to earn Big 12 All-Freshman Team honors… A starter in 21 of 29 games played, he scored a career-high 24 points at DePaul in non-conference play before going for 23 points against West Virginia at home in Big 12 play… Shannon shot 47.0 percent from the field for the season and was 87-for-105 (82.9 percent) at the free-throw line to go along with finishing the year with 120 rebounds… He had a career-high 11 rebounds at Kansas where he also had eight points… Shannon scored in double figures in 14 games as a freshman beginning with 11 points in the season-opener against Eastern Illinois in his first collegiate game… At the free-throw line, Shannon shined throughout the season with a best of 12 of 14 from the line in the 23 point performance against West Virginia along with going 8-for-9 at the line against Southern Miss and 7-for-8 against EIU, Tennessee State and Iowa… Along with being named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team, Shannon was selected as the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week on Dec. 16 after his performance at DePaul along with contributing 13 points in the win over No. 1 Louisville at the Jimmy V Classic… He averaged 7.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game in conference play.
PRIOR TO TEXAS TECH: Played Prep School basketball at the IMG Academy in Florida for head coach John Rhodes… Listed at No. 92 in the ESPN 100 and No. 86 by 247Sports in the recruiting class… Earned a 4-Star scouting grade from ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports… Played four years at Lincoln Park HS in Chicago… Named All-State and All-City as senior… Helped to lead his team to a regional title where he scored 45 and hit the game-winning shot Oak Park River Forest… Played for head coach Pat Gordon… Played basketball and was a receiver on the football team… Helped his football team to the first conference title in program history and earned All-City honors… Played AAU for Mack Irvin Fire where the team went 22-1.
