As a player on his 2018 FSU National Championship team, head coach Craig Snider added Morgan Klaevemann as the squad’s volunteer assistant coach on July 19, 2022.
Known for her speed on the base paths and as a centerfielder, Klaevemann works primarily with the outfield and base runners. She serves as the squad’s first base coach and works with the hitters, leading the offensive scouting.
Her offensive strategy and scouting proved to be crucial as Texas Tech recorded a record-breaking season at the plate. The Red Raiders broke the program’s single-season home run record after smashing 74 long balls. Tech also set the single-season program record in doubles with 93 two-baggers and the single-season slugging percentage with a .543 slugging percentage. All three of these program records were standing for at least a decade.
Under the direction of Klaevemann, Peyton Blythe became known as one the best defensive outfielders in the league. Splitting time between center and left field, Blythe tallied 79 putouts and two assists with just a single error in 41 games played. The Hughes Springs, Texas native was also a force at the plate – leading the team with a 1.194 OPS. She finished the season with the second-highest average on the team (.374), 11 doubles, two triples and nine home runs. Her .739 slugging percentage also ranked second on the team.
She arrived in West Texas after spending the last two seasons working in the College Station area. Klaevemann spent a season working for the Bomber's Fastpitch as an under-14 head coach and served as the assistant general manager at D-BAT Aggieland and the vice president of internal operations and director of scouting for High & Inside. In addition, Klaevemann also worked Texas A&M's softball camps in 2021.
A 2018 graduate of Florida State, Klaevemann concluded her Seminoles career ranked inside the all-time top-10 of four different categories, including batting average (.361 – fourth), stolen bases (126 – fourth), runs (193 – fifth) and walks (123 – fifth). A three-time first team All-ACC selection, Klaevemann also was named an NFCA second team All-American during her Florida State career.
Klaevemann finished her career in Tallahassee by winning the 2018 National Championship for an FSU program that featured Snider as an assistant.
