Voted the 2021 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year … Named Big 12 Player of the Week on Feb. 16 … Had an impressive first season in Lubbock, winning nine singles matches overall and six dual matches … In singles, went 3-0 at the OU Invitational to open her Texas Tech career and take home the tournament’s individual title … In dual season, primarily played at the No. 2 spot for the Lady Raiders in singles … Earned a huge win over No. 37 Ilze Hattingh, 1-6, 6-2, 6-0 to help Texas Tech knock off No. 23 Arizona State … Earned her first Big 12 win with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over No. 43 Kansas State’s Rosanna Maffei … In doubles, reached as high as No. 32 in the ITA doubles rankings with Lisa Mays … Staines and Mays were named All-Big 12 first team selections in doubles … The pair went 9-9 together overall and 6-2 in Big 12 play with three ranked wins … Dropped Kansas State’s 46th-ranked Karine Marion Job and Maria Linares, 6-0, on court one … Defeated No. 44 Ayumi Miyamoto and Bunyawi Thamchaiwat, 6-3, in the Lady Raider win over No. 42 Oklahoma State … Helped Tech take the doubles point from No. 2 Texas with a 6-4 win over No. 14 Lulu Sun and Kylie Collins.
AT TENNESSEE (2018-20)
Staines, a 2019 ITA All-American in doubles, was a three-year standout at Tennessee, contributing in both singles and doubles for the Volunteers … Went 52-33 in singles and 56-20 in doubles during her time in Knoxville … As a sophomore in 2019, Staines and teammate Sadie Hammond reached as high as No. 6 in the ITA doubles rankings on the way to a 27-8 doubles record to go along with a 22-12 mark in singles … Has succeeded on some of the biggest stages in college tennis, being slotted as the No. 8 seed at the 2019 NCAA Doubles Championships, and finishing runner-up in the doubles draw at the ITA All-American Championships in the fall of 2019 … That fall, also took home the singles title at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships and earned the doubles title at the Michigan Invitational … Holds a career-high singles ranking of No. 70 in the ITA poll, coming in 2020, and has racked up seven career ranked singles wins … Has tallied 15 wins over ranked foes in doubles, including four over top-10 opponents.

Before arriving at Tennessee, Staines excelled at the junior level, reaching a career-high ITF juniors ranking of No. 93 and reaching the semifinals or better in 10 tournaments in doubles and five in singles … Won the singles and doubles titles for the 2016 South Pacific Open Junior Championships and Oceania Open Junior Championships … Also claimed the doubles title at the Rumba Resort Queensland Junior Winter International 1 in 2016.
