FRESHMAN (2016-17)
Posted a 5-1 record in singles play and an undefeated 2-0 record against Big 12 opponents... Teamed up with Alex Valenstein in the no. 3 doubles position for Texas Tech... Went 15-5 in dual matches this season and 6-1 in the Big 12... Clinched the doubles point with teammate Valenstein in several wins... also had the first doubles win in several matches, including the 4-2 win over Oklahoma State... FALL: Went 9-7 in singles play and 6-6 in doubles during the fall... Advanced to the Round of 16 in her first collegiate tournament (Midland Invitational; 9/18)... Won the Singles Flight 2 Draw of the Oklahoma Fall Invitational (9/30-10/2), defeating Tulsa's Martha Matoula 6-3, 6-3... Advanced to the Round of 16 Singles Consolation Draw at the ITA Texas Regional Championships.
PRIOR TO TECH
Signed with Texas Tech in the spring... Cortina-Pou is a 6-1 right-hander... She has collected a No. 42 best open Spanish ranking and held a 1,116 doubles ranking by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA)... Amassed 14 regional championships from 2015-16 in her native Spain and was a semifinalist at two WTA 10.0 doubles tournaments... She also was a quarterfinalist in three U16 Tennis Europe events which included the U16 Spanish Championship.
