The Texas Tech baseball team earned its first sweep of the season with an 11-2 victory over the San Diego State Aztecs on Sunday afternoon. Tech won the first two games of the series, 11-3 and 14-6. Red Raider pitcher Kevin Tracey notched his second straight complete game as he allowed just two runs on seven hits, one walk and nine strikeouts over 9.0 innings.
The Red Raiders wasted no time as they scored at least one run in the first four innings. After six innings, Texas Tech led 9-0. Marco Cunningham led off the game with a single to leftfield. Three batters later, Shaun Larkin singled home Cunningham with a base hit to centerfield to score the game's first run.
Tech added four more runs in the second on just one hit and three walks. Cory Sellars started the inning with a single and advanced to third on back-to-back walks to Mark Austry and Trey Lunsford. Eric McLamore knocked in Sellars with a fielder's choice that forced Lunsford out at second. Cunningham walked to load the bases before Scott Holzhauer grounded out. On the same play, McLamore scored one a bad throw to third which enabled Cunningham to also score from second. At the end of the second, the Red Raiders led 5-0.
In the third inning, Jason Rainey's triple scored Larkin who started the inning with a walk. Rainey then scored the seventh run of the game on a sacrifice fly by Sellars.
