Vannoy Posts Semifinal Finish

LUBBOCK, Texas - Recent Red Raider women's golf standout and Texas Tech graduate Jamie Vannoy (Sandy, Ore.) advanced to the semifinal round of match play at the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship, knocking off 2000 NCAA Champion Jenna Daniels of the University of Arizona along the way.
Vannoy competed in the weeklong event last week at the Legacy Golf Links in Aberdeen, N.C. She defeated Kathy Cho of Honolulu, Hawaii, 2 and 1 in the first round and advanced to the third round with a 4 and 3 win over Tina Miller of Miami, Fla. Vannoy knocked off Sarah Bellinger of the University of Colorado 4 and 3 to move into a quarterfinal match with Daniels. Vannoy won the battle in the first playoff hole to advance to the semifinals. Russamee Gulyanamitta of Thailand ended Vannoy's run, winning 5 and 4 in the semifinals.
Junior Jennifer Newhouse (Bryan, Texas) also represented the Red Raiders in match play, but did not advance past the first round. Sophomore Stephanie Dukes (N. Richland Hills, Texas) competed in the qualifying rounds, but did not advance to match play.
