Women's Golf Travels to NCAA Central Regional

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf team will compete in the 2001 NCAA Golf Central Regional on the par-72, 6040-yard Kampen Golf Course in West Lafayette. Ind., May 10-12.
Tech will play in the ranks of Purdue, Texas, Tulsa, Oklahoma State, New Mexico State, Louisiana State University, Oklahoma, Alabama, Kent State, California, Central Florida, Baylor, San Francisco, Florida, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Minnesota, Idaho, Oral Roberts and Princeton.
Tech is coming off an eighth-place finish at the Big 12 Championships, April 23-25. Tech will look to improve from last year's NCAA regional finish, which it tied for 18th at the NCAA west regional.
Sophomore Stephanie Dukes will compete for the Red Raiders, hoping to surpass her 56th place finish at the 2000 NCAA west regional. Senior Priscilla Hunt will compete in her third and final NCAA regional while junior Jennifer Newhouse will make her third regional appearance for the Red Raiders. Freshmen Jackie Ey and Tamara Munsch will be making their first regional appearance.
Play will begin at 7:30 a.m. for all three rounds. Tech will tee off at 11:50 a.m. on Thursday, along with Texas A&M and Minnesota. Tech will kick off the second round of the regionals with tee time at 7:30 a.m. The final round will conclude on Saturday with Tech beginning at 11:50 a.m.
Going into the regional, the team is 77-138 in overall play and 25-55 in Big 12 action. The team's best finish of the year came on April 10th at the Susie Maxwell Classic in Norman, Okla., with a second place finish and a score of 883.
