No. 36 Women's Golf In 13th After Round One

LUBBOCK, Texas - Amongst a field of nine teams in the 18-team field ranked in the top 25, the Texas Tech women's golf team shot a 304 in round one yesterday at the Stanford/Pepsi Intercollegiate in Stanford, Calif., to place in a 13th place tie. The tournament marks the teams most competitive of the season including facing No.1 Duke.
Senior Jackie Ey finished first for the team with a first round score of 73 at one over par to finish in a 29th place tie. Freshman Leslie Wall shot a round one 76 to finish in a 55th place tie. Junior Sheila Mendez shot a 77, placing in 67th. At six over par, junior Megan Hull and sophomore Hazel Tan are in a four-way tie for 72nd after shooting 78 in round one.
No. 35 Washington leads the field with a first round score of 280. No.1 Duke, No.4 UCLA, No.10 California round out the top four while No.5 New Mexico and No.6 Vanderbilt are tied for fifth. No.3 Arizona, No.16 Tulsa, No.32 Oregon, No.25 Stanford and No.17 Pepperdine round out the top ten finishes. San Jose State, No. 36 Texas Tech, Arizona State, No. 45 Texas A&M, Oregon State, Washington State and New Mexico State round out the 18-team field competing on the par-72 Stanford Golf Course.
