Women's Golf Falls to 16th

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 36 womens golf team is in 16th after two rounds at the Stanford/Pepsi Intercollegiate in Stanford, Calif., with a score of 622 (304, 318). The team is competing in its most competitive field with nine of the 18 teams ranked in the top 25.
Junior Sheila Mendez is leading the team in a 48th place tie with a score of 150 (77, 73). Senior Jackie Ey dropped to 63rd place after shooting 80 in round two, seven strokes more than her first round score. Freshman Leslie Wall shot a first round 76 and a second round 82 to land in a 74th place tie.
Junior Megan Hull is tied for 81st after shooting 161 (78, 83). Sophomore Hazel Tan rounds out the competitors, tying for 83rd after shooting 78 in round one and 84 in round two.
No. 1 Duke leads the field with a score of 559. No.35 Washington, No.4 UCLA, No.10 California and No.6 Vanderbilt round out the top five teams. No.5 New Mexico, No.3 Arizona, No.16 Tulsa, No.32 Oregon and No.17 Pepperdine complete the top ten teams with No.45 Texas A&M, Arizona State, No.25 Stanford, San Jose State, Oregon State, No.36 Texas Tech, Washington State and New Mexico State complete the 18-team field.
