No. 36 Women's Golf Finishes in 16th

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf team capped off its three day performance in Stanford, Calif., today with a 16th place finish at the Stanford/Pepsi Intercollegiate. The team faced nine opponents ranked in the top 25 including No. 1 Duke who won the tournament with a score of 845.
Junior Sheila Mendez was Tech's top finisher with a score of 224 (77, 73, 74) to finish in a 42nd place tie. Senior Jackie Ey hit 73 in both rounds one and three and an 80 in the second round to finish in a 48th place tie.
Junior Megan Hull finished with a score of 239 (78,83,78) to finish in 80th, her lowest finish of the season. Closely behind Hull was freshman Leslie Wall who finished in 82nd after shooting 240 (76,82,82). Sophomore Hazel Tan finished in 86th place after shooting 242 (78,84,80).
No. 35 Washington, No.4 UCLA, No.10 California and No.5 New Mexico close out the top five with No.3 Arizona, No.6 Vanderbilt, No.16 Tulsa, No.45 Texas A&M and No.32 Oregon finishing in the top ten. Arizona State, No. 17 Pepperdine, No.25 Stanford, Oregon State, San Jose State, No.36 Texas Tech, Washington State and New Mexico State round out the 18-team field. Arizona's Erica Blasberg and Duke's Elizabeth Janangelo took home first place honors with a score of 209.
Tech will make its final appearance of the fall season at the College of Charleston Invitational in Kiwah Island, S.C. on Nov. 3-4.
