Women's Golf In Top Three After Round One

LUBBOCK, Texas - In a field of 14 teams, with five teams ranked in the top 50, Tech is in a tie for third after round one at the Price's 'Give 'Em Five' Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M. No. 41 Tech shot a 300 to tie with Louisiana State and is currently behind No.23 Florida State and No. 3 Oklahoma.
Leading tech is junior Megan Hull who shot an even par 72 tying for third while junior Kim Kolb shot a two-over par 75 to tie in 10th. Junior Sheila Mendez is tied for 20th after shooting 76 in round one. Senior Jackie Ey is tied for 36th after shooting a first round 78. Freshman Leslie Wall shot an 80 to tie at 55th.
Competing as individuals freshman Christine Kovalcik and sophomore Hazel Tan are tied for 76th and 82nd, consecutively. Kovalcik shot a first round 84 while Tan shot an 85.
The teams outside of the top five include Baylor, San Jose State, No. 42 New Mexico State, Hawaii, Arizona State, Kansas State, Western New Mexico, Arkansas-Little Rock, UTEP, North Texas, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Northern Arizona.
