Lady Raiders Finish Fourth at New Mexico State

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior Kim Kolb (Sioux Falls, S.D.) turned in one of the top performances of her career with a second-place tie en route to leading the Lady Raiders to a fourth-place finish at the Price's Giv'em Five Intercollegiate at NMSU Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M., Wednesday.
Kolb opened the event with a 74 and followed with rounds of 72 and 73, respectively, for a three-round total of 219. Sheila Mendez (El Paso, Texas) also finished among the top 20 in a 17th-place tie with a three-round 226. Jackie Ey (San Antonio, Texas) and Megan Hull (Mansfield, Texas) turned in totals of 227 and 230 to finish in a 22nd-place tie and 35th. Newcomer Leslie Wall (Dallas, Texas) shot a 249.
Third-ranked Oklahoma (888) won the event, followed by Baylor (890), LSU (901) and the 41st-ranked Lady Raiders (902). No. 23 Florida State finished fifth (903), while Kansas State (906), San Jose State (919), New Mexico State (925), Arizona State (935) and UTEP (936) round out the top 10.
Hawaii (939), Arkansas-Little Rock (944), Western New Mexico (946), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (952) and Northern Arizona (955) finished 11 through 15, while North Texas closed out the team standings in 16th place.
The Lady Raiders compete next at the Stanford Intercollegiate Oct. 17-19 in Palo Alto, Calif.
