Tech Track Teams Head West for UTEP Invite

Lubbock, Texas - The Texas Tech men and women's track and field teams will head to El Paso, Texas, this weekend for the UTEP Invitational at Kidd Stadium. The meet will include a very competitive field as the 16th-ranked Miners men's team will be joined by the 17th-ranked Tech men's team as well as several Olympians.
The women's meet will include Tech, UTEP, New Mexico State and several world-class athletes.
Both Tech track teams are coming off a very successful weekend at the Texas Relays with the men currently having a total of 11 regional qualifiers, while the women's team has four. Junior Jason Young (Dallas, Texas) is the lone Red Raider to have regional marks in more than one event, qualifying in both the discus and the hammer throws.
Last weekend freshman Dana Rosenbladt (Mandeville, La.) tied a school record in the pole vault with an elevation of 11-feet, 5.75-inches, while the men's sprint medley relay set a school record and repeated as Texas Relays champions in a time of 3:14.09.
Bobby Most (Laredo, Texas) and Chad Pharis (Vernon, Texas) currently hold the Midwest region's top marks in the pole vault and high jump, respectively.
Field events for Saturday's meet are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. (CST), while the running events are set to begin at 3 p.m.
