Pierson Named Team MVP For Lady Raider Basketball

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's basketball team held its end of the year banquet tonight at the United Spirit Arena with 700 people in attendance.
The evening began with dinner followed by season highlights from head coach Marsha Sharp and the presentation of the annual awards. Plenette Pierson was honored as this year's Most Valuable Player, while Casey Jackson was the recipient of the Fighting Heart Award.
Pierson, a third team All-American by the Associated Press, led Texas Tech in scoring with a 17.8 average and in rebounding, grabbing 8.1 boards per contest. Jackson was spark off the bench averaging 3.4 points and 3.8 rebounds for the Lady Raiders.
The banquet concluded with a highlight video of the season.
The Lady Raiders finished the year with an overall record of 29-6, while advancing to their fourth NCAA Elite Eight. Texas Tech finished the season ranked sixth in the final USA Today/ESPN/WBCA top 25 poll and seventh in the final Associated Press top 25 poll.
