Track has Spectacular Showing in Home Finale

Lubbock, Texas - In the final home track meet of the 2003 outdoor season the Red Raiders set a pair of school records and turned in six new NCAA Midwest regional qualifying marks as Tech captured 21 gold and 37 total medals at R.P. Fuller Track, Saturday.
Megan Schuessler (Llano, Texas) recorded the first new school mark of the day in the discus. Her mark of 169-feet, 3-inches moved the sophomore from ninth to fifth in the Big 12 and broke the previous school record of 166'-4". Freshman Dana Rosenbladt (Manderville, La.) was the second Red Raider to establish a new school record as she cleared 12'-0" in the pole vault in a second-place finish. The mark also qualifies her for the NCAA regional meet later this month. Olivia Clardy (Abilene, Texas) also turned in a regional qualifying mark in the discus as her fling of 150'-2" gives her qualifying marks in both the hammer and discus. Geralda Dukuly (South Grand Prairie, Texas) recorded an NCAA qualifying jump of 41'-6", but the wind reading was above the legal NCAA limit and will not count.
Senior Julieon Raeburn (Trincity, Trinidad) raced to a 20.75 finish in the 200-meter dash as he is now qualified in the 200 and 1,600-meter relay. Matt Stewart (Odessa, Texas) will also compete in two events in Lincoln, Neb., later this month as he turned in a 46.60 clocking in the 400 to qualify the sophomore in the open 400 and the 1,600-meter relay. Running for the first time this year the men's 400-meter relay turned in a 39.95 clocking qualifying the quartet of Carlos Francis (Fort Worth, Texas), Raeburn, SirDon Lewis (Hitchcock, Texas) and Albert Booker (Trent, Texas) for the regional meet. Freshman Bobby Most (Laredo, Texas) took three attempts at 18'-1.25" after being the lone competitor to clear 16'-11.5" to no avail. The mark would have set a new school record.
After today's meet the Red Raiders have a combined 28 athletes qualified for the Midwest regional in Lincoln, Neb., May 30-31. Thurs., May 8, some of the Red Raiders will travel South to Abilene, Texas, while the rest of the team will not compete again until the Big 12 Championships in Austin, Texas, May 17-19.
