
Red Raider Track to Host First Meet of 2004

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech track teams will begin what could be one of the most successful seasons in school history as they open their 2004 campaign on Friday and Saturday at the Athletic Training Center when they host the Red Raider All-comers Meet on Friday and 2004 Texas Tech Quad meet on Saturday.
The Men's team enters the season as the 13th ranked indoor track team in the country. Junior Jonathon Johnson enters the weekend ranked second in the 800m and transfer Tyree Gailes ranks fifth in the 60m, by Trackwire's Dandy Dozen. The men's 1,600-relay team is ranked eighth while the women's team made the mark, placing 11th.
Friday's meet will consist of various high schools, colleges and unattached competitors. Texas Tech, SMU, UTEP, UNT, Baylor and the women from UTSA will compete in Saturday's meet. The meet is open to the public and there is no admission charge.
