
Red Raider Track and Field Signs Three on First Day

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech Track and Field announced the signing of three student-athletes, as today marks the initial day for the early National Signing Period for all sports with the exception of football and women's soccer.
Amanda Alley, a pole vaulter, is from Crosbyton, Texas. Alley is a standout pole vaulter at Crosbyton High School. Alley is a two-time state champion in the pole vault and her personal best is 12'-3".
Jared Ede, a pole vaulter from Harlingen, Texas, was the first to sign. Ede attended Harlingen High School and his personal best is 15'.
Last to sign for the day was thrower D'Andra Carter, a native of Red Oak, Texas. Carter is ranked number two in the discus nationallyamong high school athletes. The Red Oak High School senior has thrown personals bests of 160' in the discus and 45' in the shot put.
"I am very excited to bring nationally ranked D'Andra Carter to our program," said Texas Tech track and field head coach Wes Kittley. "She will really add to our throwing group. Amanda Alley will also be a great addition to our pole vault group. We have a strong tradition in the pole vault and she will surely add to it and it is always nice to have local athletes on the team."
