
Johnson To Compete at USA Track and Field Event

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior Jonathan Johnson will compete in one of four meets on the U.S.A. Track and Field Golden Spikes Tour Sat., Feb 14, in Fayetteville, Ark. Johnson will compete in the 800m after competing for Tech on Friday at the Tyson Foods Invitational.
Now in its sixth year, the Golden Spikes Tour is a series of track & field events around the country. It provides Team USA's top athletes the opportunity to compete on home soil in front of a nationally televised audience. The fields are filled with the top collegiate athletes.
The tour is divided into an indoor season that kicks off in January and runs through March at the Indoor Track & Field Championships and an outdoor season that starts in May and runs through June. Last year's five-meet Indoor Golden Spike Tour averaged more than 10,000 fans per meet.
The 800 field includes the following; David Krummenacker (Adidas), Sam Burley (Asics), Gary Reed (Nike), Jonathan Johnson (Texas Tech), Robbie Stevens (Arkansas), Derrick Peterson (Adidas), Berhanu Alemu (Adidas) and Osmar Dos Santos (Brazil).
The meet will begin at 1 p.m. with the 800m run at 2:20 p.m. The meet will be televised on ESPN2 beginning at 8 p.m. Complete results can be found after the meet at www.flashresults.com.
