
Women's Team Heads To Indoor National Championships

LUBBOCK, Texas - Backed by not only the best time, indoor and outdoor, in school history as well as the seventh best time in the nation this season, the No.8 women's 4x400 relay team will travel this weekend to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete at the 2004 Indoor National Championships. Junior Shereefa Lloyd, the second leg of the relay team, will also compete in the 200m dash.
Tech is coming off a 3:33.85 time at the ISU Last Chance for the team's only automatic qualifying time of the season. The team of sophomore Tori Polk, Lloyd, junior Licretia Sibley and senior Rachelle Evans not only broke the indoor school record, of 3:37.04, but also the outdoor school record which is 3:34.52. Along with their solo automatic qualifying time, the team turned in two provisional times on the season.
Lloyd's time of 23.72 at the Big 12 Championships was not only a personal best but earned her all-conference honors with a fifth-place finish. She provisionally qualified in both the final and prelims, 23.91, at the Championships.

The women's 200 is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. (prelims) and 8:50 p.m. (finals) on Fri. March 12 with the women's 4x400 scheduled for 7:55 p.m. on Sat. March 13.
The outdoor season will start with a home opening meet, TTU Invitational, on Sat. March 20.
