
Track and Field Completes Day Two at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - The Texas Tech track and field team will get into the bulk of action tomorrow as they enter day three of action at the 77th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. The team has competed in seven events so far with the women's 4x400 team scheduled to begin tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.
Tech saw action in three events today with freshman Bryan Scott winning his 400m-hurdle heat with a time of 53.24. Junior Chris Hickman also ran the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.55. Junior Olivia Clardy finished fifth in her heat of the hammer with a throw of 172'-0" (52.43m).
Several Red Raiders competed yesterday in the Invitational races. In her first ever appearance in the 10000m, sophomore Abby Schubert finished second with a time of 37:20.91. Junior Kelly Blikre finished in ninth with a time of 39:05.10.
In the 1500m, senior Tracie Akerhielm finished in seventh with a time of 4:44.88 with junior Stefanie Calhoun close behind in 4:52.27 in 10th place. Junior Rob Kalesky competed in the 10000m finishing in a time of 34:25.25. Freshman Frank Ngeno finished 11th in the 1500M with a time of 4:02.68.
Tech will continue action tomorrow with several key events including the sprint medley relay of which the Red Raiders are looking to turn in their third consecutive championship finish.
