LUBBOCK, Texas - For the second time this season both the men's and women's track and field teams took first in a meet, this time at the ASU David Noble Relays in San Angelo, Texas. The women took first with 177.50 points while the men's team turned in 141 points for a first-place finish.
The team turned in 11 first-place finishes with nine regional qualifying marks. This brings the team to 49 regional qualifying marks turned in this season.
Freshman Misty Coley who returned to her hometown of San Angelo did so in fashion with a first-place finish in the high jump. Clearing a bar set at 5'-8.25", Coley claimed her second regional qualifying mark of the season.
Sophomore Dana Rosenbladt notched her first mark of the outdoor season with a second-place finish in the pole vault. Clearing a height of 12'-6.00" Rosenbladt also set a regional qualifying mark.
It was a great day for jumps as junior Geralda Dukuly set regional qualifying marks in both the triple and long jump. Dukuly finished in second in the long jump with a mark of 19'-7.0" and first in the triple jump with a mark of 40'-11.25".
Junior Tyree Gailes ran a 100m-prelim time of 10.41 to improve to 10.34 in the finals. This mark gave him a first-place finish as well as qualified him for regionals. Like Gailes, freshman Shawon Harris improved from his prelim time of 14.38 in the 110m hurdles to 14.18 to take home first and qualify for regionals.
Freshman Bryan Scott ran a 52.39 in the finals of the 400m hurdles to finish in first and set a regional qualifying mark.
Junior Jared Thornhill vaulted 16'-5.50" for a second-place finish. This vault is Thornhill's third regional qualifying vault of the season and his second-best of the season.
