Young Competes In Olympic Trial Finals

LUBBOCK, Texas - Red Raider track and field team member Jason Young competed in the Olympic trial finals at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex in Sacramento, Calif. He failed to qualify for the Olympic games to be held in Athens, Greece this August.
Young, a native of Dallas, Texas qualified for the finals of the discus event with his throw of 193'. In the finals Young finished ninth with a throw of 189' 3". Young's best mark in the discus during the 2004 outdoor season was 206'-5" at the ACU Invitational in May. Young holds the school records in the indoor season weight throw with a 63'-1" and in the outdoor season discus and hammer throws with marks of 202' and 193', respectively.
