Outdoor Season Begins for Track and Field

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech Track and Field will begin the outdoor season Thurs., March 24 in Lubbock as they participate in the Wes Kittley Open.
All outdoor home meets will be held at R.P. Fuller Stadium. Admission for the event will be $5 for adults and $3 for children. Texas Tech students are admitted with their Texas Tech ID.
The Wes Kittley Open event will begin with the field events starting at 10 a.m. and the running events will begin at 1:30 p.m.
The Red Raiders ended the outdoor season with a ranking of 17th for the men's squad. Six Red Raiders were crowned All-Americans for the their performance at the National meet. Tyree Gailes, Jonathan Johnson, Terry Beard, Johnny Jacob, Andrae Williams and Michael Mathieu were awarded for their efforts. Texas Tech also saw three student-athletes, Lacy Wilson, Licretia Sibley and Williams, crowned Big 12 Champions at the conference meet.
Also competing for Tech this weekend will be Jonathan Johnson, Bridget Tidwell and Brionne Yosten. The trio will be traveling to Palo Alto, Calif. for the Stanford Invitational. Johnson will be competing in the 800M, as Yosten and Tidwell will be racing in the 5000M.
