Red Raiders Tally 24 First-Place Finishes to Open Season

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech Track and Field tallied 24 first-place finishes and nine regional qualifying marks in its first outdoor meet of the 2005 season.
Stefanie Calhoun recorded the first qualifying mark of the day with her time of 10:50.61 in the 3000M steeplechase. Also on the women's side, Kelley Schulz cleared a height of 12'-7.5 in the pole vault for her first regional qualifying mark of the season.
For the men, Chad Pharis jumped a 6'-10.75" in the high jump and Brad Kring marked a toss of 54'0-7.25", both regional qualifying marks.
On the track, Michael Mathieu clocked a 20.96 in the 200M, Terry Beard ran a 51.23 in the 400M hurdles and the 4x100M men's relay registered a time of 40.48. All were regional qualifying times.
In the 110M hurdles, Shawon Harris and Marlon Odom finished in first and second place, respectively. Both clocked regional qualifying times with their marks of 14.00 and 14.06, respectively.
