Tech Runners Find Success at Iowa State

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech track and field competed at Iowa State and Notre Dame this weekend. Three qualifying marks were set and two school records were broken.
In Ames, Iowa, Tyree Gailes ran a 6.74, a 6.71 and a 6.74 in the rounds of the 60M dash. Gailes' 6.71 in the semifinals is a provisional qualifying mark and a personal best.
2004 Olympian and defending outdoor National Champion Jonathan Johnson finished third in the 800M with an automatic qualifying time of 1:47.22, a career best. Johnson's time is also a new school record.
The 4x400M relay of Johnny Jacob, Terry Beard, Andrae Williams and Michael Mathieu finished fourth with their automatic qualifying time of 3:04.75. The time of 3:04.75 is also a new school record, breaking the 19-yeard old record of 3:05.66.
In South Bend, Ind., Bobby Most jumped a height of 17'-3.5", a provisional qualifying mark. Britni Lawrence vaulted a height of 11'-11.75".
