Johnson Takes 800M Title at Mt. SAC Relays

Jonathan Johnson took first place in the 800M with a regional qualifying time of 1:46.67. The defending national champion won the same event last year at Mt. SAC with a time of 1:46.32. Johnson is only the third athlete to ever repeat titles in the invitational 800M event.
Marlon Odom captured the title in the Olympic development section of the 110M hurdles with a school-record time of 13.67, crushing the 17-year-old record of 13.75. In the collegiate 110M hurdles, Shawon Harris placed fifth with a time of 14.29, his fourth qualifying time of the season.
In the high jump, Lacy Wilson cleared the bar set at 5'-10" and placed second, her third regional qualifying mark of the season and the fifth-best mark in school history. Wilson currently owns three of the top five marks in school history in the high jump. She is also the indoor school record holder in the event. Misty Coley placed third with her height of 5'-8". Chad Pharis finished third with his mark of 6'-11.75". Pharis was the 2003 Outdoor Big 12 Champion in the high jump and currently holds the second-best mark in school history at 7'-2.5".
In the triple jump, Corey Dowden finished in fourth place with his leap of 49'-11.25", his second regional qualifying mark of the season. Geralda Dukuly placed eighth the women's triple jump with her mark of 39'-7.25".
In the 400M hurdles, Terry Beard finished sixth with the second-best time of his Tech career, 51.49, a regional qualifying mark. Bryan Scott clocked a 52.60, narrowly missing the regional mark, and finished in 16th place.
Tyree Gailes competed in the Olympic development section of the 100M dash. The two-time All-American clocked a time of 10.31.
The Red Raiders will return to the track Sat., April 23, in Fort Worth, Texas as they compete in the TCU Invitational.
