Red Raiders Finish Texas Relays With Three Titles

Austin, Texas - Red Raider track and field have completed competition at the 78th annual Texas Relays. Tech will bring four school records, three titles and 15 regional qualifying marks back to Lubbock.
The women's 4x400M relay, Louise Cox, Shereefa Lloyd, Tori Polk and Licretia Sibley clocked a time of 3:32.38 to finish in fourth place. The group clocked a 3:32.47, the then-fastest collegiate time in the country, in the prelims on Friday.
The men's 4x400M relay, Johnny Jacob, Michael Mathieu, Andrae Williams and Jonathan Johnson, finished in fifth place with a season-best time of 3:05.21, a regional qualifying mark.
In the 400M hurdles finals, defending Big 12 Champion Bryan Scott finished in third place with a time of 50.90, the second-best time of his career. Shawon Harris clocked a 52.59, good for a seventh-place finish. In the 110M hurdles finals, Marlon Odom clocked a 13.79 (wind aided 5.0) and earned a third-place finish.
In the pole vault, Jared Thornhill marked a regional qualifying jump of 17'-0.75" and finished in ninth place. Bobby Most led the Red Raiders with a fourth-place finish and a regional qualifying mark of 17'-4.5".
In the high jump, Chad Pharis cleared the bar set at 7'-0.25". This is the second time this season Pharis has cleared that height and it is a regional qualifying mark.
Texas Tech track and field will travel to Walnut, Calif. for the Mt. Sac Relays and San Angelo, Texas for the Angelo State Relays next weekend.
