- Texas Tech wrapped up the home portion of its 2005 schedule and finished the year with a 23-9 record at Dan Law Field.
- Senior shortstop Cameron Blair hit his 17th home run of the season in the first at-bat of the first inning. His leadoff home run marked the second time this season that he had led off a game with a dinger (last vs. Dallas Baptist May 7).
- Junior right-hander Adam Lawford picked up his first win since the game against UTA back on March 1 and snaps a streak of 10 appearances without a win.
- Texas Tech finished the year with a perfect 3-0 record against New Mexico and improved to 48-30-1 against them in the all-time series.
