Red Raider Track Set for Midwest Regional Meet

Lubbock, Texas- Texas Tech track and field will travel to Norman, Okla., and the campus of the University of Oklahoma for the NCAA Midwest Regional Meet this weekend. Events will begin Fri., May 27 at 12 p.m.
The Red Raiders recorded 183 regional qualifying marks in 32 events from 45 student-athletes during the 2005 season.
Tech is currently leading the region in five events and the top five finishers in each event go on to Nationals in Sacramento, Calif., June 8-11.
Current rankings in the region include Tyree Gailes in the 100M (third) and 200M (second), Jonathan Johnson in the 800M (first), Kevin Chelimo in the 1500M (first) and the 5000M (fifth), Marlon Odom in the 110M hurdles (second) and Bobby Most in the pole vault (seventh).
The Tech men are showing great depth in the 400M and the 400M hurdles. In the quarter mile, Andrae Williams ranks third, Jonathan Johnson sits in fourth, Johnny Jacob is in the sixth slot, Michael Mathieu is seated seventh and Terry Beard rounds out the Red Raiders in eighth place.
In the 400M hurdles, Bryan Scott is ranked at the top of the list while Terry Beard is seated in the second spot. Beard and Scott finished in the same positions at the Big 12 Championships. Rounding out the top 10 for Tech is Shawon Harris in seventh.
For the women, Shereefa Lloyd is 10th in the 100M, sixth in the 200M and first in the 400M, Althea Chambers is listed second in the 800M, Brionne Yosten is seated third in the 1500M, Stefanie Calhoun is sixth in the 3000M steeplechase, Lacy Wilson is at the top of the list in the high jump and Tori Polk is ranked third in the long jump.
The men's squad is ranked first in the Team Power Rankings and 18th in the Trackwire Top 25. The women's squad is seated at 26th in the Team Power Rankings and is not currently ranked in the Trackwire Top 25.
