Sage Thames Finds NCAA Qualifying Mark in Reno

Lubbock, Texas - Texas Tech pole vaulter Sage Thames hit the 17'-0.75" NCAA provisional qualifying mark at the annual Pole Vault Summit, in Reno, Nev., on Saturday.
Thames is an All-American in the event as he earned the honors during the 2004 outdoor season. In 2005, he was the lone Tech vaulter to compete at the 2005 Indoor NCAA Championships. Today's clearance was his first of the 2006 season.
On the women's side, freshman Amanda Alley led the way with a clearance of 12'-7.5", a new personal best. Lindsey Walesheck and Dana Rosenbladt both cleared bars set at 11'-7.75".
