LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - John Plefka scored 15 points to lead Texas Tech to a 70-56 victory over Kansas State on Wednesday night.
The Red Raiders led most of the way and took their largest lead, 63-36, when Dior Lowhorn hit a layup with 5:30 left in the game. Kansas State used a 15-2 run in the final three minutes to close within 70-56. The Wildcats hit three straight 3-pointers, two by Lance Harris, and a bucket by Darren Kent with just 22 seconds remaining to close the gap.
Kansas State played sloppily much of the game, committing 17 turnovers and Tech got almost as almost as many points (19) off of the errors.
Four Red Raiders scored in double figures. Alan Voskuil scored a career-high 15 points, all on 3-pointers, and Jarrius Jackson added 15. Martin Zeno had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The win was the first in three games for Tech (13-12, 5-6 Big 12).
It was the Wildcats' fifth loss in six games and their fourth straight road defeat.
Kansas State coach Jim Wooldridge was back on the bench since having neck surgery a week ago. He was released from the hospital a day after doctors removed a bulging disk in his neck and fused the C3-4 vertebrae.
The 50-year-old coach missed two games, a 66-63 victory against Iowa State and a 74-71 loss at Missouri.
Cartier Martin and Harris each scored 15 points to lead the Wildcats (13-9, 4-7).
The Wildcats shot poorly in the first half - 9-of-30 - and went almost seven minutes without a bucket. Tech scored 14 points in the Wildcats' dry spell, which ended when Harris hit a 3-pointer to close within 21-12. The Red Raiders led 34-20 at halftime.
