
No. 20 Track Heads to Tyson Invite

Lubbock, Texas - Texas Tech track and field will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., this weekend for the Tyson Invitational. Events will begin at 10 a.m. on Fri., Feb. 10 and Sat., Feb. 11.
Joining the Red Raiders at Arkansas will be Big 12 opponents Baylor, Texas A&M, Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Nebraska. Other national powerhouses in attendance will be LSU, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Stanford, Tennessee, and the hosting Arkansas Razorbacks.
In this week's polls, the men's squad is seated at No. 20 by the USTFCCCA and is tied for No. 19 in the Trackwire 25. In conference action in the USTFCCCA poll, Texas is at the top of the list, Nebraska is at No. 7, Texas A&M is listed at No. 9, Baylor at No. 13 and Kansas at No. 16.
Individually in the Trackwire 25 Dandy Dozen, Andrae Williams is seated seventh in the 400M, Zach Glavash broke into the 800M in the third spot and in the 60M hurdles, Daryl Burgess is ranked seventh and Marlon Odom is sitting at 10th. The men's 4x400M is currently ranked eighth.
On the women's side, Tori Polk is seated at third in the long jump in the Trackwire 25. The squad has yet to crack the USTFCCCA team rankings. In conference action, Texas is seated at No. 2, Nebraska at No. 5 and Texas A&M at No. 12.
Last Saturday, Texas Tech track and field hosted their last indoor meet at the ATC. The Red Raiders posted five provisional marks, two facility records and one school record.
Freshman Amanda Alley won the pole vault with her NCAA clearance of 12'-11.5", also a new personal best and the second-best mark in school history. Lacy Wilson finished second in the high jump with an NCAA qualifying clearance of 5'-10", the fifth-best mark in school history.
In the 55M hurdles, Daryl Burgess clocked a 7.29, a new personal best, school record and facility record. The time is also his third provisional qualifying mark of the season. Marlon Odom finished third in the event with his provisional time of 7.36, his second of the season.
Zach Glavash won the 600Y in dramatic fashion with his clocking of 1:08.84, a new facility record. The race marked Glavash's first individual run as a Red Raider. The time was also .03 seconds away from tying Jonathan Johnson's school record of 1:08.81.
In the pole vault, Bobby Most took first place with his clearance of 17'-0.75", his second provisional mark of the season. Chris Ashcraft and Sage Thames finished in a tie for second with clearances of 16'-6.75".
Personal bests were abundant in the women's throws. D'Andra Carter finished third in the shot put with a personal best of 46'-4" and fifth in the weight throw with a personal best of 47'-1.5" Patience Knight set a new personal best in the weight throw with a second-place finish and a toss measuring 50'-1.25".
Also in the shot put, Harrison Benjamin marked a toss of 56'-9.5, the fifth-best mark in school history.
