Andrews Wins Decathlon at ASU Multis

Lubbock, Texas - The Texas Tech multi-events group, Julianne Kennedy, Chad Andrews, Jamie Robinson and Cale Smith, completed a two-day competition at the Angelo State Multis, in San Angelo, Texas, on Friday.
In the heptathlon, Kennedy finished second among eight competitors with 4,955 points, a new school record. The sophomore replaces her previous school record of 4,937, set at Texas Relays in 2005. She posted marks of 14.79 in the 100M hurdles, 5'-6.5" in the high jump, 38'-0" in the shot put, 26.02 in the 200M, 17'-11.5" in the long jump, 93'-11" in the javelin and 2:31.57 in the 800M. Kennedy posted personal bests in the 200M, 800M and the javelin.
In the decathlon, Andrews finished first of nine competitors with 7,044 points. Smith placed fifth with 5,229 points and Robinson was sixth with 4,786.
Andrews recorded a 11.58 in the 100M, 22'-3.75' in the long jump, 40'-0" in the shot put, 6'-2.75" in the high jump, 52.35 in the 400M, 14.93 in the 110M hurdles, 133'-4" in the discus, 14'-7.5" in the pole vault, 180'-11" in the javelin and 5:01.55 in the 1500M. All of Andrews' marks are personal bests.
Smith posted a 11.57 in the 100M, a 21'-4" in the long jump, a 42'-8" in the shot put, 5'-11.25" in the high jump, a 16.11 in the 110M hurdles, 123'-8" in the discus and a 158'-0" in the javelin. Smith no heighted in the pole vault and did not finish the 1500M.
Robinson marked a 11.86 in the 100M, 22'-1" in the long jump, 44'-10.75" in the shot put, 6'-4" in the high jump, 55.83 in the 400M, 124'-4" in the discus and 193'-0" in the javelin. Robinson did not finish the 110M hurdles and did not start the pole vault and the 1500M. Robinson had personal bests in the discus and the shot put.
Next up for Tech track will be the Wes Kittley Open, Sat., March 25, at R.P. Fuller Stadium.
