Three School Records Fall at UTEP

Lubbock, Texas - Lacy Wilson, D'Andra Carter and Tia Barginear set new school records in the high jump, discus and 400M hurdles, respectively, at the UTEP Invitational, in El Paso, on Saturday. The Red Raiders combined for 16 regional qualifying marks.
Wilson won the high jump with a school record mark of 6'-1.25", also a regional qualifying mark, her second of the season. Wilson replaced her previous record of 6'-0.75" set April 23, 2005.
Carter set a school record in the discus with her fourth regional qualifying mark of the season, 178'-7". Carter replaces her previous school record of 171'-5" set on March 24, 2006.
Barginear won the 400M hurdles with a school record clocking of 1:01.00, also a new person best. She narrowly missed the regional qualifying mark of 1:00.71.
Also in the discus, Patience Knight finish fourth with a 166'-10", a new personal best and her second regional qualifying mark in the event on the season. On the men's side, Brad Kring threw the disc 179'-6.5", a new personal best and his third regional qualifying mark of the season in the event.
In the shot put, Knight tossed a personal best 48'-7.5", good for a third-place finish and her first regional qualifying mark of the season in the event. Carter finished sixth with a personal best of 44'-6.75". On the men's side, Harrison Benjamin won the event with a regional qualifying throw of 57'-8.75" and Kring finished third with another regional qualifying mark of 55'-4.25".
In the women's long jump, Sabrina Taylor finished second with her third regional mark of the season, 19'-11.5".
In the triple jump, Bobby Evers marked a 50'-6.5", a personal best and his first regional qualifying mark in the event on the season.
In the pole vault, Bobby Most won the event with a regional clearance of 17'-0.75", his first of the season. Sage Thames finished second with a 16'-6.75", his second regional qualifying mark of the season. Randall Klaus finished fourth with a personal best of 16'-1". On the women's side, Amanda Alley finished fourth with a regional clearance of 12'-5.5", her first of the season.
The women's 4x100M relay (Barginear, Branch, Cox, Taylor) combined for a season-best regional qualifying time of 45.51.
In the 110M hurdles at the 48th Mt. SAC Relays, Marlon Odom clocked a 13.75, Daryl Burgess a 13.97 and Shawon Harris a 14.07. All three times are regional qualifying marks, the fifth for Odom and the fourth for Burgess and Harris.
In the 400M, Andrae Williams clocked a 46.14, a regional qualifying mark and the current Big 12 event leading time.
The men's 4x400M relay, Bryan Scott(48.2), Michael Mathieu (45.6), Rodney Mims (47.7) and Andrae Williams (45.3), combined for a regional qualifying clocking of 3:07.01.
