Three Red Raiders Qualify for Finals in 110M Hurdles

Austin, Texas - Daryl Burgess, Shawon Harris and Marlon Odom will be running in the finals of the 110M hurdles on Saturday. Burgess clocked the second-fastest prelim time with a season-best 13.83. Harris had the fifth-fastest prelim time with a 13.92 and Odom had the fourth-fastest prelim time of 13.90. All three prelim times were also regional qualifying marks, the second of the season for Harris and Odom and the first for Burgess.
Anchored by All-American 800M runner Zach Glavash, the men's sprint medley relay finished second to UTEP. Albert Booker (21.1), Michael Mathieu (21.6), Andrae Williams (45.6) and Glavash (1:48.5) combined for a clocking of 3:17.00.
The women's sprint medley relay also could not hold on to their 2005 title as Melissa Branch (23.7), Tia Barginear (25.5), Louise Cox (53.7) and Althea Chambers (2:10.9) combined for a time of 3:54.07 and an eighth-place finish.
The men's 4x100M relay, Harris, Ryan Varner, Odom and Mathieu clocked a regional qualifying time of 40.50, also a season best, but fell short of making the finals of the event.
Cox, Barginear, Patricia Mayers and Chambers combined for a 3:41.19 clocking in the 4x400M relay. The time is a regional qualifying mark and season best but was not good enough to advance the group to the finals of the event.
Sabrina Taylor finished fourth in the "B" pool of the long jump with her second regional qualifying mark of the season, 19'-11.5", also a new collegiate personal best.
Patience Knight marked a toss of 46'-0.5", a new personal best, good for a 10th-plce finish in the shot put "B" pool. On the men's side, in the "B" pool, Harrison Benjamin finished fifth with a throw of 57'-10", his third regional qualifying mark of the season.
In the discus, school record holder D'Andra Carter finished 10th in the "A" pool with her third regional qualifying mark of the season, 156'-0". On the men's side, Brad Kring finished ninth with a 166'-8".
Julianne Kennedy finished sixth in the "B" pool of the high jump with her first regional qualifying mark of the season. Kennedy cleared 5'-8.75', matching her personal best. In the "A" pool, Misty Coley cleared 5'-8.75", good for a seventh-place finish and her third regional qualifying mark of the season.
