Day One Wraps Up at Dick McGuire Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Texas Tech women's golf squad completed the first two rounds of play at the Dick McGuire Invitational in 16th place. The team shaved 11 strokes from their first-round score to move up one spot in the team standings. Tech currently has rounds of 312-301--613 (+29).
During the first round of play Tech came out looking impressive, as the Red Raiders fired five of their eight birdies through the first nine holes. The team struggled to finish the round as they stood in 17th place with a score of 312.
Three Tech members posted better scores in the second round, with newcomer Tracy Stanford shooting eight shots less than in the first round. The team fired 11 less bogeys or more during the final round of the day to finish with a 9-over 301, the tenth best second-round score.
Leading Tech is freshman Rosalyn Kim with rounds of 76-72--148, 2-over par. Kim is currently pushing for her first top-20 finish as she sits in a tie for 18th place. Melissa Fahey and Stanford are both tied for 59th with scores of 77-77--154 and 81-73--154 respectively. Megan Dowdy and Gloriana Soto are also tied at 80th with a 13-over 159. Ulrika Van Niekerk is tied for 87th as she competes as an individual.
