LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Red squad currently sits in eighth place of 16 competing teams at the Jeannine McHaney Invitational at The Rawls Course. The team consisting of half of the Red Raider team carded rounds of 311-295--606 to move up four spots from a 12th-place standing after one round. Their second-round score of 7-over-par 295 marks their lowest of the short 2006-07 season.
Leading the way for the Red squad, and leading all Texas Tech members, is Ulrika Van Niekerk. She is currently tied for 16th with rounds of 76-72--148. Also competing for the Red team is Megan Dowdy, with rounds of 77-74--151 in 28th place. Gloriana Soto shaved seven shots from her first-round score after hitting a 1-over 73 in the second. Soto sits in a tie for 37th. Freshman Rosalyn Kim turned in a 154 during the first day of competition and is currently tied for 43rd. The final member of the Red team is Amanda Martinez who is tied for 66th after rounds of 81-78--159.
The Texas Tech Black team is six shots back of the Red team with rounds of 313-299--612. Brynn Anderson leads the Red Raiders for that squad, carding 76-74--150 and is tied for 23rd. Christine Kovalcik is tied for 28th with a 151. Melissa Fahey and Marla Troester turned in a 155 and 156, respectively. Tracy Stanford is the fifth member of the Black team and is tied for 75th with a 162.
Tied atop the team leaderboard is SMU and San Francisco with each team firing a 6-over 582. Mustang Kate Ackerson is tied for the individual lead with Arkansas-Little Rock's Sara Wikstrom. Each has posted a 4-under 140.
