ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Texas Tech men added provisional marks on the second and final day of competition from the Dan DeHart Invitational in New Mexico. In the 60M hurdles, Marlon Odom took the title in the final heat with a provisionally-qualifying run of 7.89. Freshman Anthony Flemons finished first in the men's triple jump, his first time jumping in the event for Tech. The Childress, Texas, native leapt a distance of 52'-8.25" on his sixth and final attempt.
Also hitting an NCAA provisional mark was Albuquerque native Chris Ashcraft in the pole vault. The senior Red Raider had a personal best when he cleared a height of 17'-0.75"; his previous top mark was 16'-7.25". Ashcraft's provisional mark makes the third Tech pole vaulter to qualify, as Amanda Alley and Lindsey Walesheck did so last week and Friday, respectively. Freshman Brian Porter cleared a height of 16'-7.5", also a new PR, to finish in fourth place.
In the men's 400M, Rodney Mims finished in second place behind a personal best time of 48.34. Freshman Steven Johnson was one second back in fourth place with a clocking of 49.27. On the women's side, Keshima Starks took seventh with a run of 58.87.
Jessica Stovall ran a personal best time of 5:19.74 in the mile run. The mark was good for fifth place. Running personal bests in the sprints were Jonisha Boleware and Ryan Adkins. Boleware finished fourth with a time of 7.62 in the women's 60M, while Adkins clocked a 6.95 in the men's 60M to finish sixth.
Making his high jump debut for Tech was freshman Lyle Leong, who finished in fourth place. Leong cleared a height of 6'-9", while teammate Justin Turner jumped 6'-7" good for ninth place.
