Hurdlers Earn Personal Bests at Sooner Open

NORMAN, Okla. - Three of the four Texas Tech Red Raiders that competed this weekend at the Sooner Open hosted by Oklahoma earned personal best times in the 60M hurdles. Marlon Odom finished with two additional NCAA provisional qualifying times, marking his fifth and sixth for this indoor season.
Odom, the senior from Killeen, Texas, finished with a 7.81 in the preliminary runs of the event. The Red Raider All-American ran the same time in the finals of the 60M hurdles, finishing in first place. Odom previously ran 7.81 this season, setting a personal best, at the Tyson Invitational on February 9.
Freshman Omo Osaghae shaved .03 of a second from his personal best of 8.01, as he ran a time of 7.98 during the prelims in Oklahoma. Osaghae ran his previous PR last week at the Tyson Invitational. Also running a fastest personal time was Jansen Hyde. The sophomore clocked a mark of 8.07 in the finals to finish third. Hyde's previous best was 8.17, which he notched at the Texas Tech Open on February 10.
The Red Raiders will next compete at the Big 12 Championships from Ames, Iowa. The meet is set to begin on Fri., February 23rd, with Saturday being the final day of competition.
