NJCAA National Indoor Championships Underway in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas - With the first day of the NJCAA National Indoor Championship complete, on the men's side West Texas' own South Plains college leads the way with a team total of 67 points. As for the women, Cowley County CC currently sits atop the leader board with 63 points.
In the pole vault Derrick Taylor of South Plains took the top spot with a height of 4.61m while the women's champion was Nancy Piazza of Paradise Valley with a height of 3.66m.
The long jump men's crown was taken by Rend Lake's Adrian Wiltshire with a distance of 7.38m and the women's champion was Dominique Jacobs of South Plains College with a distance of 5.97m.
The South Plains trend continued in the 3000 and 5000m runs with John Kosgei claiming victory in both events with a time of 8:23.73 in the 3000 and 14:37.46 in the 5000. The women's champion in the 3000 and 5000m was also claimed by the same individual. Betty Rotich of Colby CC won the 3000m with a time of 10:20.92 and the 5000m with a time of 17:30.50.
