FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - With only four Texas Tech track members competing at the Last Chance Qualifier from Fayetteville, Ark., the Red Raiders failed to improve their best marks from earlier this season. All of the Tech members have met an NCAA provisional mark this season, while only Lacy Wilson earned a qualifying height on Friday.
Wilson, who set the Texas Tech women's indoor high jump record at the Big 12 Championships last week with a height of 6'-0", finished first in the event in Arkansas. The Red Raider senior cleared a height of 5'-10" to take the top spot.
Pole vaulters Lindsey Walesheck and Amanda Alley both cleared a height of 12'-8.25" after each vaulted over 13'-0" at the Big 12 meet. Walesheck finished second in the event from the Randal Tyson Track Center, host of this year's indoor championships, while Alley took fourth place.
Junior Bobby Evers finished in third place in the men's long jump, missing a qualifying mark with a distance of 24'-1.75". The Brownwood, Texas, native had two provisional marks during the indoor season, with a top distance of 25'-0.5" from the conference competition.
Action will continue this weekend for several Red Raiders as the runners compete in Ames, Iowa, tomorrow at the Last Chance Meet hosted by Iowa State. Texas Tech sent a contingent of 60M hurdlers, the men's 4x400M and 800M runner Zach Glavash.
