
Kipyego Nominated for Collegiate Women Sports Award

LUBBOCK, Texas - For the third-consecutive year Texas Tech senior Sally Kipyego has been nominated for the Collegiate Women Sports Award for cross country.
The eight-time NCAA Champion capped her cross country career by becoming the only woman in Division I history to win three-straight cross country titles. Kipyego in her career at Tech has never lost a race and set the meet and course record at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. She has won the award each of the past two years.
The winner will be decided by nationwide voting among NCAA member schools and will receive the Honda Sports Award for cross country. The winner will also be nominated for the Honda-Broderick Cup awarded annually to the nation's outstanding collegiate women's athlete of the year.
In addition to the honor of being nominated, American Honda will donate $1,000 to the women's athletic fund of each nominee's university. The winner's program will receive $5,000.
