
One Automatic and Five Provisionals Earned at Tyson Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Texas Tech finished the first day of the Tyson Invitational with high marks. Sally Kipyego ran her second NCAA automatic time of the season and four other Red Raiders recorded five NCAA provisional marks on the first day of the Tyson Invitational. Shawon Harris, Julius Walker, Lamont Adams and Gladys Kipsang added their names to the list of potential NCAA Championship participants with NCAA provisional marks.
Kipyego, the school record holder in the 5000M, ran the fastest time in the nation with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 15:32.09. Kipyego won the event by over 45 seconds keeping her record unblemished for her indoor career.
The men hurdlers continued to show dominance as Shawon Harris and Jansen Hyde qualified for the finals of the 60M hurdles. Harris ran the second fastest qualifying time with a NCAA provisional time of 7.79. Hyde ran a personal best time of 7.95 to qualify. Omo Osaghae ran an 8.02 and earned a spot in the consolation final of the 60M hurdles.
Freshman Lamont Adams ran his first NCAA provisional time in the 400M with a personal best of 47.21. Julius Walker followed suit and ran his first NCAA provisional time in the prelims of the 60M with a time of 6.74. Walker topped his prelim time with a winning time of 6.69 in the 60M consolation final. The time is his second NCAA provisional of the day.
Gladys Kipsang ran her first NCAA provisional mark of the season with a winning time in the mile of 4:47.37. The time is a new personal best for Kipsang. Gilbert Limo ran a personal best in the championship division of the mile with a time of 4:07.16. Silas Kemboi placed second in the college division of the mile running a personal best time of 4:08.20.
Bobby Evers led the Red Raiders in the championship division finishing seventh place with a jump of 24'-4.50".
