Tech Wins 13 Titles at Red Raider Open

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech finished the Red Raider Open with 13 individual titles and 21 NCAA regional marks. Two school records were set at R.P. Fuller Stadium at the only home meet of the season.
D'Andra Carter for the second week in a row broke her school record. Her throw of 184'-05" set the R.P. Fuller Stadium record and currently has the best throw in the NCAA. Patience Knight and Ozie Okolie both threw NCAA regional marks finishing in second and third respectively. Knight threw 162'-11" and Okolie threw a distance of 158'-05".
The men's hurdlers swept the top four spots in the 110M hurdles. Shawon Harris won the event with a new school and R.P. Fuller Stadium record of 13.51. The time is the third fastest in the nation. Omo Osaghae ran a NCAA regional time of 13.99 and Jansen Hyde was just behind him with a NCAA regional time of 14.02. Nathan Lowry ran fourth with a time of 14.68.
Bobby Evers placed second in the long jump with a NCAA regional leap of 24'-7" and Waylon Randolph jumped 22'-8.50"' to finish sixth. Janell Appelhans finished third in the women's long jump with a mark of 18'-8.50" and Veronica DiLullo finished fifth with a jump of 18'-1.50".
Gil Roberts ran his first NCAA regional mark in the 400M winning with a time of 46.21. Rodney Mims finished in sixth with a time of 48.08. Jonisha Boleware finished in fifth with a time of 55.90.
Chep Boit won the women's 3K steeplechase with a time of 11:24.14.
The 1500M saw two Red Raiders regionally qualify. Gilbert Limo placed second with a regional time of 3:48.82 and Silas Kemboi ran his first NCAA regional mark of 3:49.73. Edwin Sang finished in sixth with a time of 4:04.34.
The Lady Raiders had four runners place in the top five of the event.Sally Kipyego won the event with a NCAA regional qualifying time of 2:08.26. Asia Diaz finished third with time of 2:10.84 and Gladys Kipsang placed fourth with a time of 2:11.60. Shannon Jackson rounded out the top five with a time of 2:11.84. The men had Kemboi place second in the men's heat with a time of 1:52.53.
Knight and Carter flipped places in the shot put as both threw NCAA regional marks. Knight threw 51'-5.75" and Carter threw 47'-9.75". The men followed suit in the shot put as both threw NCAA regional marks. Harrison Benjamin won the event with a throw of 57'.25" and Tyler Menges finished in second with a throw of 55'-5.5".
Mike Cast placed second in the javelin with a NCAA regional mark of 207'-07" and Paden Behrens threw a personal best mark of 184'-03" to finish fourth.
Jessie Gibbs tied for second in the pole vault clearing a personal best height of 11'-7.75". The men had Brian Porter also finish in second clearing a height of 16'-.75".
Julius Walker ran his second NCAA regional mark of the year with a personal best time of 10.31 winning the 100M.
Brett McDaniel won the men's discus with a throw of 169'-06".
Okolie threw her second regional mark of the day, winning the hammer throw with a distance of 204'-7".
The high jumpers had Justin Turner place third for the men clearing 6'-8.75" and Kelsey Lloyd finished in fifth with a mark of 5'-3".
In the 200M, Jonisha Boleware placed third with a time of 24.43. Gil Roberts ran his second NCAA regional time of the day placing second in the 200M with a time of 21.11. Omo Osaghe ran a personal best in the 200M with a time of 21.50.
The 400M hurdlers added two NCAA regional marks for the men. Wouter LeRoux won the event with a time of 51.53 and Harris ran a 51.65 to finish second. Hyde finished in fourth with a time of 53.84 and Lowry ran a 55.11 to finish fifth. Jasmine Flournoy won the women's with a time of 1:01.88 and Ashley Williams palced fifth with a time of 1:07.46.
The women's 4x400M relay of Jasmine Flournoy, Kelsey Lloyd, Erica Worthy and Keshima Starks won the event with a time of 3:46. 92.
The 10,000M was the final event at the Red Raider Open. Noel Conrad ran a time of 36:16.59 to finish in fourth. The women had Michelle Guzman run a time of 37:00.28 to finish third.
