LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech will be spread across the Western United States this weekend as they compete at the TCU Invite (Ft. Worth, Texas), Mt. SAC Relays (Walnut, Calif)and the John McDonnell Invitational (Fayetteville, Ark.).
Tech sprinters will be headed to the TCU Invite to compete on Sat., April 19. First time regional qualifier Gil Roberts will look to better his time of 21.11 in the 200M and 46.32 in the 400M. Sandra Iwunze, who has the third best time in the 400M hurdles in the nation, will run against TCU's Kishelle Paul, who has the fourth best time nationally.
Three distance runners will be headed to the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. Sally Kipyego, Irene Kimaiyo and Gilbert Limo will be running with the top runners in the nation on Friday night. Kipyego and Kimaiyo were both All-Americans in this event last year.
The majority of the Red Raiders will be headed to Fayetteville, Ark., for the John McDonnell Relays. Stiff competition will at the meet especially in the throws department. Patience Knight and D'Andra Carter will have to face the top two discus throwers in the nation this weekend. The men's triple jump will have three of the top ten jumpers in the nation competing as well.
